Embracing True Beauty | A Reminder from the Bible
As women, we are often celebrated for our radiant beauty, but true beauty goes much deeper than what meets the eye. A powerful beauty tip, rooted in wisdom from the Bible, is to focus on nurturing your inner beauty—your kindness, compassion, and the love you show to others.
"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight." 1 Peter 3:3-4 (NIV)
This suggests that true beauty radiates from within, through qualities like humility, kindness, and a peaceful spirit. Cultivating these inner traits can make you glow in a way that no external beauty treatment ever could.
The Bible mentions several beauty practices, both in terms of physical care and, more importantly, inner beauty. Here are some biblical references to beauty practices that we all can take joy in adhering to and incorporate into our daily lives—
1. Anointing with Oils
In the Bible, oils were often used for skincare, anointing, and to signify favor. For example:
Esther 2:12: "Before a young woman’s turn came to go in to King Xerxes, she had to complete twelve months of beauty treatments prescribed for the women, six months with oil of myrrh and six with perfumes and cosmetics."
Beauty tip: Myrrh and other oils were used in Esther's beauty regimen to keep her skin radiant. Essential oils like myrrh, frankincense, and olive oil were highly valued in ancient times for their moisturizing and soothing properties.
2. Bathing and Cleansing
The Bible highlights the importance of cleanliness, which was often a symbol of spiritual purity as well.
Ezekiel 16:9: "Then I bathed you with water and washed the blood from you and put ointments on you."
Beauty tip: Regular cleansing was not just a matter of hygiene but also a form of spiritual renewal, cleansing both body and soul.
3. Anointing Hair and Body
Anointing hair and bodies with fragrant oils was a practice for both beauty and spiritual significance.
Song of Solomon 1:3: "Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like perfume poured out."
Beauty tip: The Bible mentions using aromatic oils and perfumes for fragrance, and the "fragrance" is also a metaphor for someone’s character.
4. Healthy Diet and Natural Beauty
The Bible also emphasizes the importance of a balanced, natural diet, which is vital for maintaining beauty.
Daniel 1:12-15: Daniel and his friends chose to eat vegetables and drink water instead of the king's rich foods. As a result, they appeared healthier and more radiant than others.
Beauty tip: A simple, healthy diet rich in vegetables, fruits, and water supports overall health and natural beauty, aligning with the principle of caring for the body God has given.
5. Humility and Inner Beauty
As mentioned earlier, the Bible places a significant emphasis on the beauty of the inner person rather than outward appearance.
Proverbs 31:30: "Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."
Beauty tip: Inner qualities such as kindness, wisdom, and a heart that honors God are the true sources of lasting beauty.
These practices remind us that beauty in the Bible is about both physical care (using oils, cleansing, and nourishing the body) and cultivating the inner qualities that reflect God's grace, love and favor.
We all know the importance of self-care, especially when it comes to nurturing our skin. One beautiful reminder from the Word encourages us to take care of our bodies with the natural gifts God has provided. This is something that I value very deeply and built this brand upon.
In the book of Genesis, God speaks about the abundance of fruits: “And God said, ‘Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.’” (Genesis 1:11)
This scripture reminds us of the goodness in nature—fruits that nourish us from the inside out. Incorporating fruits like avocados, bananas, and citrus into our skincare routine can be a powerful way to rejuvenate our skin. These natural ingredients are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, providing hydration and promoting healthy, glowing skin.
By using the fruits of the earth, we can honor our bodies and enhance our beauty in a way that aligns with God's gift of nature. So why not take a moment to nourish your skin with nature's finest fruits and treat yourself to the holistic care you deserve?
Have a blessed one, hope you enjoyed this read. XO.
