A Healing Botanical Elixir.

I love to indulge in a hot healthy beverage every morning. It is an easy way for me to get a boost of vitamins and minerals from gut healing herbs/roots + superfoods. I also find it to be very therapeutic to prepare.

When it comes to gut health, an ingredient that I will always include in my regimen is ginger.

Ginger is gut healing, as it protects the stomach lining and supports the digestion of food and nutrient absorption. Ladies, did you know ginger reduces bloating and can alleviate a painful period?? The health benefits are endless.

The two other ingredients that I included in this elixir were turmeric and chai.

Turmeric is one of those herbs that you really can’t do life without, mainly because of its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Chai is an Indian tea that I have really taken a liking to. Chai improves digestion, protects your heart, and boosts your immune system.

I make this elixir by boiling fresh turmeric root, chai mix and ginger in water (1/2 cup) for about 5 minutes. In a separate pot I’ll heat up whatever plant milk (1/2 cup) I am using that day, which is most often macadamia milk. I then strain, and add the turmeric, chai and ginger water into the heated milk. I add agave to sweeten.

Another hot beverage I would like to briefly share is Chai tea. Chai tea is made by boiling the leaves with (plant) milk, sugar, cinnamon and cardamom. It becomes a sweet, spicy and milky beverage that tastes amazing. Cardamom (a plant of the ginger family) is also a great plant (seed) to treat digestive issues with.

Go ahead and sip your way to gut health.
